May 2019

We had to say goodbye to our Summer Concert initiatives – as autumn is very quickly turning into winter. We had great shows at De Akker, Muratie and Marianne Wine Estate. But be rest assured, we plan to host some wonderfully intimate and cozy winter concerts from May to August.

We are also happy to announce that we acquired a new client, The Purple Windmill – a restaurant and function venue between Stellenbosch and Paarl. They recently opened their restaurant – The Reservoir – where we also offer some live music on selected Saturday afternoons.

We had some good news in April. One of our artists – Sima Mashazi – was awarded the Kanna Award for Best Music Production at the annual Klein Karoo National Arts Festival. This was for the music production My Miriam Makeba Story. We are extremely proud to be a part of this production and especially proud of Sima Mashazi and Ramon Alexander – for their hard work and dedication to this project. The show did fantastic at the Suidoosterfees which took place during the last weekend of April. A great shout out and thanks to ClemenGold who have been supporting this production since day one. The show can be seen in Pretoria and Johannesburg on 13 and 14 July, will be running at the Fynarts Festival (Hermanus) on the 11th of June and can also be seen at the annual Aardklop National Arts Festival in Potchefstroom in September. Keep an eye out on our calendar for updates on these shows.

The month of May is a quiet one for us (show-wise) as we regroup and put together our winter program for you. We will also be quite busy working with the Cape Town Music Academy on presenting the second Berklee City Music Jazz and Hip-Hop Winter School. This is a project we are very proud to be a part of, as it is a wonderful plough back initiative by the CTMA. Delegates from Berklee City Music (Berklee College of Music, USA) come to South Africa and present workshops to school learners, students, music teachers and professional musicians and HipHop artists. The workshop is free of charge and a fantastic learning experience for all musicians from all skill levels and backgrounds. The project kicks off on the 15th of June and comes to an end on the 20th of June.

At the end of May, you can once again look forward to a great Sunday Wine Set at Marianne Wine Estate. We will be posting info about the next live act soon.

We are also very excited about our international tour to Netherlands and Belgium. We are taking the Korreltjie Kantel crew abroad and will start making some serious noise this month. We are kickstarting a crowdfunding campaign and fundraising initiative and would like to invite everyone to help us make this tour a huge success. Stay posted for this one! Feel free to follow Korreltjie Kantel on their Facebook page. Regular updates will be posted there as well.

As you can see, we have a lot planned and lots of work to do!

Please make contact if you have any questions about our upcoming and ongoing events.
