Here Be Dragons performs Folk 101

An exquisite classical concert.

The Baroque ensemble ‘Here Be Dragons’ explore the roots of baroque music, as found in the folk music performed in and around the main cultural centres of Europe during the 15th and 16th Century. This selection of two 40 minute sets include music from both the folk and high art styles. It gives the audience a unique perspective on the development of the one to the other. The lively selection of music includes music from Scandinavia, the British Isles, France, Spain, Italy and Romania, and the audience is encouraged to clap along to these toe-tapping tunes.

The musicians perform pieces individually and as a group, and a wide array of instruments are played. Joining Jan-Hendrik Harley – Composer (baroque violin/baroque guitar/direction) on stage is Joshua Frank (recorder/whistles/guitar), Mariechen Meyer (double bass), John Pringle (percussion) and Annien Shaw (violins).

This is spine-chillingly beautiful and impresses beyond expectation. Be sure to see it in your area.
